Well I just rounded of the budget for my research trip (plus extra's) to Indo. It still needs some work, but it's nice to know that I won't starve over there, and will actually get to do some fun things. I've also managed to buy all the photo equipment I wanted to have before going. It's really only up to me now. Can't blame the equipment anymore, not that you ever really can. The new gear does take a lot more space. I really hope my work won't suffer from the attention the lenses will get. But I can always switch to the 50 1.8, which looks very innocent. Luckily everything does fit into the computrekker.
I've also been wondering if my day bag is really the right thing to carry. I've rigged a Lowepro Toploader 75AW with the shoulder harness from the Rover AW and fitted 2 Lens case 4's (not 4s) on the sides. It's really great carrying it on the front, allowing for easy lens changes, and because of the weight, carrying it on the back is a pleasant alternative. But I always look like someone going into battle. Although I personally like that look, it might again attract too much attention. I'll probably pack the padding from the rover in my suitcase, which can always be stuffed in any other bag. I would have liked to have a Domke F2 with me, which I decided not to buy yet, but lowepro's sealing will be much more practical for the weather conditions.
Also got a couple of rain sleeves. I'm curious to see how they work out. I've been meaning to get a more durable rain cover, but haven't seen anything worthwhile. I wonder why camera armor hasn't made a proper weather sealed version of their line yet. Would be nice having something that fits so snug.
Oh yeah and I've still got an exam before I leave. Can't forget that.
